SELL PAYS ADVOCACY VISIT TO ADSEPA IN ADAMAWA STATE
On the 15th October, 2024 The SELL team paid an advocacy visit to the office of the Adamawa State Environmental Protection Agency (ADSEPA) in Yola, Adamawa State.
The purpose of the visit is to familiarize with the Agency, key in with the workings of the Agency and also solicit for their support to effectively coordinate Environmental activities in Adamawa state, so that there can be centralize information of activities, data and locations of projects within Adamawa state.
This will aid provide information for any organization intending to carry out activities in relation to the environment in the state.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Ibrahim Umar, the Executive Director of the Agency, applauded SELL Foundation for ensuring a safe and sustainable environment; he also applauded His Excellency Umaru Ahmed Fintiri the Executive Governor of Adamawa State for sponsoring the bill for the establishment of the Agency in 2021.
Mr Abafrance Donya added that for us to have a safe and sustainable environment there is need for policy formulation on how to safeguard the environment. He added that this can also be achieved through a robust awareness and advocacy which SELL has started.
The management of the Agency encouraged SELL to keep up the good work and ensure follow-up in areas they have planted trees.
SELL NIGERIA HAD A STAKEHOLDRS ENGAGEMENT ON ENVIRONMENT IN ADAMAWA STATE
Sharing Education and Learning for Life foundation had a one day Stakeholders engagement on environmental policies and practices in Adamawa State, Nigeria.
The engagement aimed to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss and evaluate environmental issues and policies in Adamawa state with the intention of identifying areas that require improvement and recommend practical actions.
In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Mary James Joel welcomed all stakeholders present and made a clarion call to all participants at the event to contribute in any way they can to safeguard the environment from destruction.
Speaking during the event, Dr Ibrahim Umar, the Executive Director of Adamawa State Environmental Protection Agency who also served as the anchor during the engagement charged all Government and private Agencies working in the Environmental sector to work together to achieve a more sustainable environment in the state.
Mr. Charles Doke the Communication officer ACReSAL also highlighted how ACReSAL has contributed to the environmental sustainability in Adamawa State. He added that for them to achieve their goal there is need to adopt a strategic approach and carry out stakeholders mapping of all organizations, groups involve on environmental issues in Adamawa. He also called on individual, groups, organizations to try and reach out to ACReSAL whenever there is need for tree seedlings.
At the end of the engagement, a communiqué was issued, and participants commit working collaboratively to implement the resolution outlined.
The engagement which took place at Women Development Centre on the 17th October, 2024 brought together participants from different Government and private agencies.
