In our efforts to reach out to many and impact more community members, SELL Foundation Nigeria conducted training for local farmers, couples, women and SELL volunteers on smart agriculture, family cohesion and briquettes production in Shendam Local Government of Plateau State and Damaturu, Yobe state.
The training brought together Local farmers, Couples, women and SELL volunteers in the communities to explore the latest technologies and best practices in smart agriculture and also explore other alternative source of cooking energy. The training set out to achieve the following objectives:
- to equip farmers with necessary skills to increase productivity, reduce waste and promotes sustainable agricultural practices
- to promote healthy relationships and equality among couples
- to empower women with skills on use of local methods to produce smoke free charcoal which will serve as alternative source of cooking and income to the families.
The training in Shendam took place on the 5th to 8th November, 2024 at Catechetical Training Institute and that of Damaturu took place at Hope Afresh Hall, Damaturu, Yobe State from the 3rd to 7th December, 2024.
SELL CONDUCT COMMUNITY MAPPING IN SHENDAM, DAMATURU
In our effort to promote safe and healthy environment, SELL conducted a community mapping exercise at a new area ward in Shendam local government of plateau state and at New Jerusalem ward in Yobe state.
The initiatives aimed to assess environmental risk factors in the area. Through this exercise, we worked closely with the community members to identify risks and develop actionable recommendations for future improvements in environmental safety and resilience.
SELL PAYS ADVOCACY VISITS IN SHENDAM, DAMATURU
SELL resource team alongside SELL community volunteers paid an advocacy visits to some stakeholders in Shendam local government of plateau state and Damaturu, Yobe State.
The purpose of the advocacy visits is to seek possible areas of collaboration and to also strengthen the already existing relationships.
Stakeholders visited were the Divisional Police office of Shendam, Social welfare department, water sanitation and hygiene, traditional council, Ministry of forestry among others.
