SELL NIGERIA ORGANISE A ONE DAY STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Sharing Education and Learning for Life foundation has organized a one day stakeholder’s engagement for persons with disabilities. The event focused on policy implementation, compliance and awareness regarding inclusive services for persons with disabilities.


The programme which took place at the SELL office brought together participants from the Joint National Association of Persons with disability (JONAPWD), Agency for Persons with disabilities, National Union of Journalist (NUJ) Civil Society Organization (BASNEC), Financial Institutions, Bauchi State physical planning and development control board, Gender desk officer from ministry of Education, Bauchi State Rural Water supply and Sanitation Agency (Ruwasa), Media, among others.
Speaking at the event, the programme Coordinator Mr Beji Jibe highlighted that the aim of the programme is to focus on policy, awareness and inclusivity. He called on all to make contributions where necessary.
Malam Haruna Saidu Pali, Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in Bauchi, also raised concerns over the persistent marginalization and exclusion faced by persons with disabilities in the State.


Mr. Mainas Ayuba Chairman Bauchi State network of disability forum who gave an overview of the legal frame work in Bauchi also call on government and private institutions to make their facilities accessible for persons with disabilities.
Mr. Morris Choji representative of Ecobank in Bauchi, applauded SELL Foundation for the initiative and promised to update other banks in their meeting on issues raised during the programme for a way forward.
Supporting the call for action, Bauchi State NUJ Chairman Comrade Umar Saidu and BASNEC Chairman, Mr. Jinjiri Garba emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration and a comprehensive approach to addressing challenges faced by people with disabilities.


Participants at the event also aired their areas of concerns and call on government and private agencies to also consider people with disabilities for jobs opportunities.
In his closing remarks, Robert Psinon the Executive Director, thanked everyone for attending the programme and encouraged the participants not to give up but keep pushing for the best.
