The Sharing Education and Learning for Life Foundation last week conducted two trainings concurrently for young adults in Shendam community of Plateau State and Yola in Adamawa State. The training in Shendam was on Countering Violent Extreme and Child Safeguarding and Protection for English Facilitators in Shendam, while Hausa Facilitators across the North East and Plateau State had their training on Gender Reconciliation and Peace and Conflict Resolution in Yola, Adamawa State.

The training in Yola aimed at creating awareness and promoting reconciliation and gender equity as well as to promote peace in the North Eastern part of Nigeria while that of Shendam aimed at empowering the young people in Shendam community with the necessary skills and strategies to counter violent extremism in their community.

The trainings also provided the participants with the opportunity for community dialogue towards peace building and action plans that will guide them as they interface with the community members.

The training in Shendam brought people from Civil Society Organizations, Religious groups, Government and Security agencies and the Hausa trainees were drawn from states of the North East and Plateau.

The training for Hausa facilitators took place from the 4th-6th February, 2021 at CAN Secretariat Yola while the training in Shendam took place at Catechetical Training Institute Shendam, from the 4th-6th February, 2021. Meanwhile, advocacy visits preceded the training in Shendam from 1st -2nd February, 2021.
