In a bid to consolidate on the gains of engaging with different stakeholders in the community to promote peace and ensure the protection of women, children, youths and the vulnerable members of the community, SELL foundation has continued with advocacy visits to critical stakeholders within the catchment communities. The recent being visits to the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State and the Bauchi State office of the National Human Rights Commission.

In his reaction, the PPRO welcomed the team and promised to continue to collaborate with SELL to ensure that members of the public are aware of the activities of the police, assuring that the police are ready to serve the public diligently. As a mark of demonstrating the readiness of the police to partner with SELL, the PPRO instantly referred to SELL a rape case of a 13yrs old girl and her family which was before him for psychosocial support.

Responding, the programme coordinator Mr. Beji Jibe assured the police of the readiness and availability of the foundation to support the police with training and referral services.

Similarly, the team visited the Bauchi office of the National Human Rights Commission where we were received by the State Coordinator Mrs Yahcit S. Dala. In her remarks, Mrs Dala lauded the foundation for emphasizing the safeguarding and protection of children and the elimination of Domestic and Gender Based Violence. She said the commission has focal officers on the protection of the Rights of Children and on Women and Gender issues who will work closely with SELL foundation to address the promotion, protection and litigation of human Rights foundation within Bauchi and its environs.
